Have you ever wondered whether you are a good candidate for laser vision correction? First Sight Vision Care offers free Lasik consultations. Pre-operative and post-operative care is provided in conjunction with our network affiliated Laser vision surgeons.
What is LASIK? Lasik surgery is a type of refractive eye surgery to correct your nearsighted, far-sighted and astigmatism which will allow you to see better without glasses or contact lenses. Your Lasik surgeon will create a flap in your cornea and then use a special laser to reshape the curvature of your eye eliminating the refractive error in your eyes.
Most people who have laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK) eye surgery achieve improved distance vision without the need for glasses and contact lenses. Eventually, most people may need glasses for driving at night or reading as they get older.
Complications that result in a loss of vision are rare. Certain side effects, particularly dry eyes and temporary visual disturbances, are fairly common. But these usually clear up after a few weeks or months, and very few people consider them to be a long-term problem.
What makes you a good candidate for lasik surgery? Have an annual eye exam to determine how stable your vision is. Your eye doctor will also check the health of your eyes to make sure there are no existing ocular conditions that would not make you a good candidate for surgery. Additional special testing will also be performed by your eye doctor to make sure there are no irregularities to the front surface of your eyes.
Lasik surgery is only one type of refractive surgery to correct your vision. If you are not a candidate for lasik surgery, you may still be a good candidate for other refractive surgery procedures such as photo refractive keratectomy (PRK), refractive lens exchange (RLE) or implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) procedures.
Call us today and schedule an appointment. Make sure to let us know that you are interested in a Lasik consultation along with your annual eye exam.
